FAQ

u

How heavy are the fire pits?

Our fire-pits are unashamedly heavy! They are made so they do not twist, bend or warp like the majority of cheap and nasty mass produced pits on the market. Fire-Pits weigh approximately as follows, 60cm 40kg, 90cm 85kg, 120cm 150kg

u

Will water fill up the fire pits when it rains?

No. The fire pits have drainage holes as do the cooking plates

u

How should I mount my fire pit?

Fire-Pits must be mounted on a plinth made of fireproof material such and concrete pavers. Recommended size in 60cm paver. The paver should be mounted on a bed of stone/screenings and levelled. Ensure there is adequate drainage under the mounting surface. Bricks or concrete slabs are also suitable. Always ensure there are no combustable materials or objects within 2-3meters of the fire-pit.

u

How do I clean my fire pit?

Make sure the embers are completely extinguished with water and have cooled. Use a shovel to remove ashes and hose down the pit. The BBQ plate can be easily scraped clean when hot with a flat edge shovel or large paint scraper.

u

How do I care for my fire pit?

We recommend you purchase a custom aluminium cover plate to protect the pit. We recommend you clean and oil the BBQ plate with vegetable oil after use and preferably store it inside the fire pit with the optional cover plate fitted

u

Can I use heat beads or charcoal?

Absolutely you can. Using wood chips and smoke flavour may also add to the taste of your meat on the fire pit.

u

How do I transport the fire pit?

Firepits can be freighted on a pallet or collected in a ute or trailer. Remember you need a suitable unloading equipment to unload the fire-pit from the delivery vehicle. The 60cm pit will fit in a station-wagon etc

u

What maintenance is required for my fire pit?

Very little. We recommend the weather cover for maximum long term storage.

u

What is the best way to light the fire in the pit?

Use a few firelighters, newspaper/cardboard and small sticks/kindling then simply keep adding to the desired temperature. Never use flammable liquids to start a fire! Always have a hose close to the fire pit as a matter of precaution.

u

How do I use my camp oven on the fire pit?

On the 90cm and 120cm a camp oven can be placed directly on the BBQ plate and cooked using varying methods. Use the swing function of the plate to maintain the optimal temperature. Roasts, stews curries and more can be cooked beautifully on the fire pit with ease

u

How do I prepare my fire pit BBQ plate for cooking?

Use a generous amount of Vegetable oil and rub into the plate. Do this before each cooking event and it will help to protect the plate.
